Carla Baron | Eugene Vidocq

Carla Baron is an internationally known psychic who has been featured on Court TV’s Psychic Detectives, ABC’s Primetime, MTV’s Fear, and the British hit television program, Dead Famous, which has broadcast in the United States on the Biography Channel. Carla is currently starring in the runaway hit Court TV series, Haunting Evidence, which will be premiering its 2nd season on June 20th with a one-hour special on the Natalee Holloway investigation. Haunting Evidence also appears in regular syndication on the UK's LIVINGtv network, and Australia's FOXTEL.
Carla is most famous for her role as a "psychic profiler", in which she assists police departments in identifying perpetrators in long standing unsolved crimes homicides and abductions in particular.

I met Carla Baron on December 7, 2003, when I attended a Learning Annex program entitled Three Mediums, which featured Carla, Hans Christian King and Maria Shaw. I introduced myself to these three mediums and asked if I could try to derive past lives for them, utilizing Ahtun Re, the spirit guide channeled through Kevin Ryerson.

The first lifetime that Ahtun Re gave for Carla Baron was one during the 19 th century, in which she was a medium, or psychic, affiliated with the early Theosophical movement. Ahtun Re stated that Carla’s name in that incarnation was Alice Lenore Mabley. When I reported this to Carla, she intuited that she had a different past lifetime that was more prominent than the Mabley lifetime. Carla requested that I ask Ahtun Re about this other past incarnation.

In a subsequent session with Kevin Ryerson, Ahtun Re responded to Carla’s inquiry by stating that before the Mabley lifetime, Carla was a historically prominent police investigator in Paris, who served as the model for the detective stories of Edgar Allen Poe and other writers. Poe’s fictional detective was named Auguste C. Dupin, whose almost supernatural ability to put clues together to solve crimes made him appear psychic.

The historical figure that Dupin was based upon was Eugene Francois Vidocq, who became a legend in France for his crime fighting service to the nation, and Paris in particular. In addition to being the model for Poe’s Dupin, Vidocq’s skills and reputation also made him the model for Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert in Victor Hugo’s, Les Miserables, as well as the character Vautran in Honore Balzac’s, Pere Goriot.

Vidocq himself started out as a criminal, who later became an informer for the French police. Vidocq later became a police officer and based on his understanding of the criminal mind, Vidocq became more successful in apprehending perpetrators than anyone else on the Paris police force. In biographies, Vidocq has been described as a “swashbuckler,” who fearlessly raided criminal hangouts, making dramatic arrests, many times single handedly.

As a result, Vidocq was appointed to be the first chief of the Surete, the French detective agency, in 1811. At the Surete, Vidocq pioneered modern police investigative techniques, introducing the use of criminal records, plaster-of-paris casts of foot and shoe prints, as well as the study of criminal weapons and ballistics. Vidocq was also a master of disguise and surveillance, and would wear costumes, wigs and fake beards, to spy on criminals and their activities. As such, Eugene Vidocq was also the model for a more modern fictional character, the great Inspector Clouseau of the Pink Panther movie series, played by Peter Sellers. Sellers was Vidocq in parody, of course. Eugene Vidocq lived from 1775 to 1857.

After I told Carla about her proposed past lifetime as Vidocq, and after she had a chance to study his life, Carla intuitively and viscerally resonated with Vidocq. She has related, “I didn’t need to be him, I didn’t need to look like him,” but so many things fit that she had to accept that she was Vidocq in a past lifetime. Carla resonated with Vidocq’s deep understanding of the criminal mind. Regarding Vidocq’s daring and swashbuckling persona, Carla states that she, like Vidocq, likes to “play it on the edge,” to take risks yet remain in control.

Carla related that she rarely pursues past life information given to her from others, but that this past life match hit home. Wondering about Carla’s psychic gifts in relation to Vidocq, I asked Carla if she though Vidocq’s success in solving crimes was, in part, due to his being psychic. Carla responded, “Of course he was, he is the same soul as me, though Vidocq couldn’t come out and admit it back then.” As mentioned, in Edgar Allen Poe’s stories regarding his fictional character Inspector Dupin, who was modeled after Vidocq, Dupin’s deductive skills make him appear to be psychic.

There are interesting parallels between Vidocq and Carla Baron in regards to their professional work and passions. Chiefly, Vidocq and Baron share the characteristic of being committed to the principle of justice. Vidocq dedicated his life to protecting the innocent and jailing criminals. Carla is a psychic profiler who works with police departments on homicide and missing person cases. She has worked on 150 such cases, and points out that in all of these investigations, her input has helped the cases progress. In many instances, her efforts have led to arrests and convictions.

Further, Carla has a cooperative relationship with police agencies with which she has collaborated. She has stated, regarding investigations, “My work is only as good as good police work” Referring to detectives she works with, “They have to be able to take the pieces I derive and put them together.”

Carla Baron and IISIS

I do want to thank Carla for her assistance in establishing the name of IISIS, the non-profit we have established to conduct reincarnation research.  In a session with Carla, I was discussing the organization, which I had tentatively named the Institute for the Integration of Science and Spirit.  Carla made the suggestion that the organization should have an acronym that sounded like the Egyptian Goddess "Isis", and so IISIS, the Institute for the Integration of Science, Intution and Spirit, was born.  Many people have expressed their attraction to this name, which evokes images of ancient mystery schools.  The Board of Directors of IISIS expresses its appreciation to Carla for her contribution to the creation of IISIS.
